At the age of 3, Ferg Mulcahy began his interest in music performing on the cornet. He moved to the trombone at the age of 7 and has since performed in many countries all over Europe. He has been a performer and arranger for the soul band Goodfellas, but has spent most of his career with leading Rhythm and Blues band Zoot Serious and the Bellyful of Bop During his many years of performing, Ferg Mulcahy has been on stage at many festivals and functions with some of the finest musicians. Ferg Mulcahy has not only been a performer and arranger, but has also composed pieces for solo instrument, small groups and even orchestras. He has taught brass, piano, keyboards and theory (both Jazz and Classical) to all levels, and has held master classes on the trombone. He has been a band leader with two of his own big bands, three funk bands and a blues band. Ferg has been a music technician at a leading High School and has taught music at a primary school, helping to further the music of all ages including GCSE. He is currently studying for a PGCE. To list the bands and musicians that Ferg has performed with would take up most of the site but as well Zoot Serioous he has particularly enjoyed The Blue Magnolia Jass Orchestra, Steve OJ, Flash Harry and The Chase Ferg Mulcahy has been influenced by three great musicians, Arturo Sandoval, Esbjorn Svensson and Nils Landgren whose Funk Unit he had the pleasure of meeting at the Gothenburg Festival.
